Hi! I’m Anne and I’m a personal trainer, based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
My fitness journey started almost 15 years ago, when my sister asked me to join her for the Seattle Half-Marathon. At the time, I naively thought it would be easy, and that I could “wing it”. Maybe not… after completing the race I was practically incapacitated for a week. However, I was officially bitten by the running bug and took it on as a new challenge. After that I ran every day for the next 4 years, until I graduated from Oberlin College and graduated to the lifestyle of a desk job.
During this time, I managed to gain a whopping 18 pounds in 3 months. Even though I was still running, I couldn’t shake the weight. I was so unhappy with myself, I went to a gym to try and get some extra help. However, my trainer was useless. He had no way to guide me to use the equipment to my own advantage. I felt so intimidated just left to stand in front of all those weights and machines. He put me through a treacherous workout, all the while enthusiastically working out on his PHONE!
All I wanted to do was feel like me again, and it just wasn’t happening. That’s when I decided to become a personal trainer. I spent the next 6 months going to night school at NPTI (National Personal Training Institute) after my full-time job. I gained over 500 hours of fitness and nutrition experience, and after graduating at the top of my class, I studied and passed another exam to become a NASM – International Certified Personal Trainer.
Two kids, several international moves and a hectic work schedule; I know what it means to struggle daily; trying to accomplish so much in such little time. But I know from personal experience that feeling fit, takes time. As little as 30 minutes a day for yourself, will stretch your energy and mood so much further for the rest of the day. It’s an investment in you!
Fitness is for everyone. The gym is there for YOU and that gym can also be a fun place, once you are in charge of what you want out of it. My goal is to help you find YOUR fitness routine, make it fun and accessible for your lifestyle, keep it consistent, and help you, feel like YOU.
